exploring the outdoors to reduce stress

Utilizing Videos

This week was about how videos can be used to full advantage while teaching or learning. I found this to be an incredibly useful session as I am not entirely technologically proficient and found so many different ways I could edit and incorporate videos to enhance my viewers experiences.

The first video that comes to mind for me is the one that stuck with me throughout my whole education experience is called “The Story Of Stuff.”

This was shown to me in a social studies class and I found the animations explained the message so vividly. I remembered this particular video also because throughout the class, I was uninterested in the topic of consumerism but this video put a lot of things in perspective.

I think it’s important, as an educator, to be “hip with the times,” and by this I mean be relevant in society and keeping up with certain trends as it will allow you to relate more to your students and give them opportunities to connect with what they are learning about, allowing for a deeper understanding. I think keeping an open mind towards technology is the main way to do this.
