Teaching Philosophy

As technology becomes more prevalent in today’s society, students are faced with the issue of getting out and moving. As an educator, making sure you balance out the right amount of exercise between the body and the mind is very important. In my classroom, I hope to model this balance through a various of cross-curricular lessons that will help student actively construct their knowledge in all areas. I also will strive to make every student comfortable and have a sense of belonging within the classroom as it should be a safe space for everyone, only then can they start their learning journey. Keeping in mind the Circle of Courage, I will be teaching in all areas of a students needs which include social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual. By giving them a safe space, I will allow for students to make deep connections with those around, helping them grow socially and emotionally. It is important to model yourself for the students so therefore I will be progressing personally as well, always striving to move forward in my own journey of learning. There will always be room for improvement in myself and I will allow the students to help me learn more about my teaching abilities as well as them. As a migrant of Ukraine, I believe cultural diversity is also an important aspect of the classroom. I will provide support and emphasize that the ways we are different is what makes us individuals. I hope to bring all of my learnings into the educational community and consistently contribute to the society I am within.
