exploring the outdoors to reduce stress

Mount Tzouhalem

First week of classes really kicked all our butts so I decided to destress with a small hike. Last weekend I got out to Mount Tzouhalem, in Duncan, BC, for a short but highly elevated climb. This is one of my favourite spots on Vancouver Island as it is close enough to drive to within an hour and still on the outskirts so you don’t feel like you are in the city. The spot itself is a little tough to find as there are multiple ways to go up the mountain but the main entrance is off of Maple Bay road.

The hike itself is very quick but high incline, making it a fairly moderate amount of physical activity. The walk up took about 40 minutes, we spent a couple of minutes enjoying the view and then hiked down in about 25, making it just over an hour all together.

As this adventure was quite the incline, we decided to relax and enjoy lunch at one of my favourite Duncan cafés: The Dog House. This place has a family style feel with many different options for food so I would definitely recommend coming here (even with the pickiest of eaters!!).

Hoping next week brings just as wonderful adventures. Stay tuned!!
